#SONA2015FASHION

ABS-CBN.com

The Couple Champ both in customized Francis Libiran.

True enough, as we all expected, the #SONA2015 red carpet had been a fashion showdown, making more major buzz than our country's fashion week and events. Though I support Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago with her proposal to have a uniform during SONA's, I could not deny the fact that I am enjoying watching our beloved politicians supporting the local fashion community. Call fashion a beautiful distraction so that others would fail to see what the SONA and all the current events are all about. I think it is very tactical to invite some celebrities too to add some color and spice to the already-dramatic and already-celebrity-packed political empire in our country. Of course, the cyber-bullies in some of our fellow Filipino net-izens who are poor and shallow-minded in terms of fashion could not ever be stopped due to lack of fashion shower and failure to appreciate design, hence, they are creating mean memes which just further proved my theory of stupidity. (Ok, add this meme generation as part of a conscious and conspiracy plan to further distract and encourage other Filipinos in creating more meme which they think are funny and trendy, so that they won't be focusing so much on the President's performance as a leader.)

Alright, with no further ado, I present to you my picks from the #SONA2015Fashion!

G O | S E E Brown Do No Wrong

Around Mayon Volcano, Cagsarwa Ruins, Bicol, Albay, Philippines.

Plus, an interesting drink with chili in it. It's still milky and sweet but gets really deliciously spicy as it flows down your throat. I was looking for chili ice cream but it's not available that day.

On our way to Bicolandia. First stop in Quezon Province.

VALENTINO HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

The Italian label has always been romantic in terms of its design. This season, the collection's context was like taken out of story books. The red pieces has been a signature and they are present. There are also gold and black. The gold accessories completed the look and gave the collection its mythical finish. One more thing, I can't help but notice the number of Chinese audience in the photos. Just imagine if the photo represents the proportion of the total audience. Hmmm smells like ultra wealth and power . I think Chinese love Valentino more than anything else.

ZUHAIR MURAD HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

If you want another royal treatment, you can have Zuhair Murad. The collection gave me a vibe of a vintage beauty queen at first. The stars and the crowns made each models like a holy woman whom had come from the heavens. All of the sudden, by looking at the clothes, it feels like I was looking to the dark starry night sky. Universe and galaxies conspire, the constellations of design revealed the princess of the stars. Murad gave velvet and sheer a mystic poetry.

VIKTOR & ROLF HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

Viktor & Rolf have always been into expressing art into fashionable pieces. They have chopped ball gowns and made couture pieces out of rabbles in their previous collections.  This season, they went literal with their artistic expression and innovation. They have combined denim, which is a trend now, and paintings, a throwback, which they have shaped as skirts and ball gowns. I love how random the collection was and that the painting were formed into three-dimensional pieces. Plus, Viktor & Rolf have showed us what was supposed to be done backstage. Instead, they dressed up the models on the runway which proved their skill and out of this world talent as designers.

A Day with a Pop Star

Klarisse de Guzman for ABS-CBN's It's Showtime opening number with Jason Dy.

A moment less than half a day won't make you know a person that much, but I believe that first impression always last. Klarisse definitely deserves a bigger spotlight in the industry. Big talent with a big heart. Plus, her mom is equally adorable and supportive. There would be no reason for Klarisse not to succeed further with series of shows after shows and vocals, so powerful, it will bring her to much a higher stage.

ALEXIS MABILLE HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

Alexis Mabille is like my soul-couturier if there is such a thing. For this season, he tapped for celebrities to showcase his collection. I like the way he presented the pieces with different types of women, each with unique personality. Every piece was exquisite and pristine. All the designs will make any woman dream of an Alexis Mabille Haute Couture experience.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

If there was a full-pledged French in the recent Haute Couture show,  that would be Gaultier. No one can go French-ier than him. Jean Paul Gaultier has been around for a long time and still his playful spirit and quirky aesthetic are still ruling his runway. Nobody can guess what's next for each of Gaultier's show, from Madonna, Lady GaGa to the androgynous Andreja Pejic. Jean Paul Gaultier will make that Fench connection with you.

FENDI HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

Flower. Fur. Feather. Karl Lagerfeld's Haute Couture collection for Fendi this season gets luxurious with the use of fur on almost all of the pieces. Flowers? for fall? I think Miranda Priestly would agree that it's truly ground-breaking. Karl has been into flowers lately as accent to his collections in Fendi like the Bird's of Paradise in his bags last season. Feathers were also part of Lagerfeld's animal instinct this fall. Fendi wants you to unleash your inner fury this season. Kill!

ELIE SAAB HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

The impeccable and  royal taste of Ellie Saab has been a fixture for the world of Haute Couture. Saab is not just a runway favorite but also a go-to for Hollywood A-listers. Anybody can just feel like a princess in his creation, of course, the price tag talks about the price only princesses can afford. Laces and see-through fabrics were also around for a long time now and Saab just keep in reinventing them to the next level. I think he is the Couture-est of this season.

MAISON MARGIELA HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

Deconstruction and presentation of those looks of the dress being undone have been a signature of the Maison Margiela ever since. And it is such a good thing for its new head designer, one of fashion's bad boy, John Galliano, to continue this aesthetic with his own expression. Yet the pieces were seemingly undone, you can still feel the Galliano's effect of a show girl. Outlandish and outer-worldly, no one can compare Galliano. Most of all, nothing can bring John down and he will be here to stay.

ALEXANDRE VAUTHIER HAUTE COUTURE FALL / PARIS

Alexandre Vauthier surely knows how to put up a show for his latest collections. His high slits and revealing cuts will give Donatella a run for their money. I like the way that the pieces are very much wearable from the streets to late night parties. The collection is mostly black with pink and red as popping accents. The white pieces and the gold finale gave us a break from the sea of black.

Just recently, Vice Ganda premiered his latest song "Huwag Kang Pabebe" in the latest MOR Pinoy Music Awards 2015 and collaborated with the girls for the upcoming music video. Now, the girls are in the show business in an instant. Thanks to the hilariously-captioned shares, most of the time, with acid-washed and mean comments of the netizens. They helped the video go super viral.

A photo posted by Jernih Agapito (@jernihagapito) on

Some BTS from the recently concluded MOR PILIPINO MUSIC AWARDS OPM PA MORE! held at Smart Araneta. I was not able to shot as much. Everything was different from a backstage point-of-view and I love it. I always liked the feeling of rush in live shows.

ARMANI PRIVE HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

The fashion house of Armani just gave us a fabulous serving of purple shades with its fuzzy and sparkly pieces. The pieces will surely suites the red carpet and the parties. It's giving me a rock star/ diva vibe. I also love the idea that some pieces seem to be like a street wear. Well, an Armani piece is not something to hide.

GIAMBATTISTA VALLI HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

Giambattista Valli has always been a Hollywood A-list favorite, from Penelope Cruz, Julian Moore to Jordan's Queen, Her Majesty Rania. I like how feathers and flowers were fused in this collection. It is Haute Couture and it feels light to the sight. Any women would feel sophisticated and exquisite in these Valli pieces. The pieces introduced us to a woman up there in the high society and still ready for the streets and whatever comes with it.

ILJA VISSER HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

Young. Modern. Chic. Ilja Visser's recent collection from Paris is just breathtaking. The structural silhouettes and drapes mean something new for women. It is really my first time to hear about her. I think women should start wearing daring clothes. And when I say daring, like Ilja Visser-daring!

G O | S E E A Day with Paul

CHRISTIAN DIOR HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

Raf Simons once again gave us a beautiful collection as he staged the latest Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2015 show in Paris. Tiny floral details and cage dresses were some of the designs obvious as the pieces reveled themselves on the runway. It was like a beautiful irony of softness with constriction, flow-y but with coordinated restriction. The collection signifies a woman's grace, still in control, amidst the pressure she is facing.

CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

Chanel has been a legendary label that will always stay and be in the hearts of woman around the world. Its signature pieces and tweed are eternal. Coco Chanel has truly embodied legacy and Karl Lagerfeld truly continues what the brand is known for, sophisticated and classy. And what Filipino's should celebrate about this season was that a Filipina model was booked for the runway job. Finally, after Anna Bayle, after long, long years, we have Marga Esquivel. Being included for a Chanel show ain't that easy, it's like a brink of success for any model. You have to compete with thousands of beautiful girls flying to Paris from different parts of the world. I think that's harder than winning a Miss Universe crown where you should have to compete with just around a hundred. Now that's a job a million girls ( thousand boys) would gladly kill for.

ATELIER VERSACE HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2015 / PARIS

After viewing the long schedule for Paris Haute Couture Show this year, I quickly decided to just pick some of my favorite designers or collections which really are mesmerizing. Also, to multiply my possible posts in the furture. So to start my list, opening the Haute week, Atelier Versace.

The collection is ultra sexy and feminine as always. Donatella always make the pieces every year powerful, fit for ass-kicking women. The clothes will surely make anyone feel an instant goddess with it's soft, fluid and light pastel-colored fabrics accessorized with tiny flower buds. The collection will make any man and other woman alike stop just to have a glance until they turn into stones.
